The Association for the Advancement of Ethiopian Art aims to increase the visibility of Ethiopian Israelis in Israeli television and film, to promote works concerning Ethiopian Jewry and Ethiopian Israelis and to promote Ethiopian artists. We believe that empowering Israeli Ethiopians by increasing their visibility will facilitate their integration into Israeli society.

The Association for the Advancement of Ethiopian Art operates in two channels. Firstly, it conducts lobbying activities to increase the number of hours that television shows dealing with Ethiopian Israelis are aired, and in which Ethiopian Israelis appear on screen.
Currently, the Israeli channels do not air any programs intended for, or dealing with, Ethiopian Israelis; thus, many Ethiopians Israelis remain in a physical ghetto (in the neighborhoods where there are large concentrations of Ethiopians) and in a ghetto mindset. You hardly ever see them on the TV screen (or in film), other than in news stories featuring Ethiopian Israelis, in primarily negative contexts.
Secondly, the Association conducts educational activities, aimed at exposing teenagers and children to the culture and history of the Ethiopian Jews.

The Association strives to empower and instill pride in the Ethiopian Israeli children and youth via televised content, and also to introduce non-Ethiopian children to the culture and history of the Jews of Ethiopia, so they will accept Ethiopian Israelis as an integral part of Israeli society.
